We are growing, but we only post a role when we are genuinely ready to hire. Collecting applications for jobs that do not exist wastes your time. If you work the way this page describes and want to be first in line when that changes, send us a note about what you have built and we will keep it.
What it is like here
You own things from end to end. Not a queue of tasks and not a slice of someone else's design, but a problem, from understanding it to keeping it running once it is live. That is more responsibility than most junior roles carry, and it is the fastest way anyone learns.
You talk to clients directly. There is nobody between you and the person whose business depends on what you are building, which means being able to explain a trade off to someone who does not work in software.
You will read a lot of other people's work. Some of it is strange, much of it was done under pressure, and none of it is your fault. Curiosity survives this better than perfectionism does.
Work arrives in small pieces. Nobody here delivers a week of changes in one go, and nobody is asked to review one.
We work remotely, with a few overlapping hours for calls. We care about what gets finished, not hours logged.
Who this suits
- You would rather remove something than add to it.
- You get more satisfaction from making an existing thing faster than from starting something new.
- You can write clearly. Reports, instructions and client updates are half of this job.
- You are comfortable telling a client you do not know yet, and then going to find out.
- You have real opinions about backups and about what happens when things go wrong.
- You care whether the thing works for someone using a keyboard or a screen reader.

You write to us
A short note about what you have built and what you want to work on. No cover letter theatre, and you do not need a portfolio site. Something you are proud of is worth more than a CV.

A conversation
Forty five minutes about how you think and what you have worked on. Not a quiz on things you last used at university.

A paid exercise
A real, small piece of work that looks like the actual job, usually reading something messy and writing up what is wrong with it. Paid at our normal rate, with a time limit, and yours to keep whatever we decide.

A decision, quickly
You hear back within a week either way, with a real reason. We will not leave you waiting or send you a template.
